October Awesomeness

Alright, so, first post of the year! (School year, that is.)

Note the stuff that is new/has been edited will be in bold.

The following is a list of some things you should be aware about. I will try to update this regularly. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the art e-mail at: hhsrenegadearts@gmail.com

First off, meetings you should be aware about this month:

~Oct. 10th (Thursday) 7:10 meeting!

   Some important dates and events:
~The week of the 13th to the 19th: Homecoming week of course!
~Oct. 11th: No school, we will be helping decorate the school into a festive Halloween nightmare.
~Oct. 18th- 20th: The Twenty Dirty Hands will be up and running for three days.

Things you should keep in mind:
★ Remember to research your artist you will be dressing up as for our float! Also look for key costume items you may need to do a bit of searching for. Info you will also need: *How they died *One interesting thing *A cool art piece they made *And something else I have forgotten that I will get back to you on.
We will be working on our float real soon here. So be ready, and if you know of any places where you can get some materials, don't hesitate to tell the president (Tabitha,) one of the vice-presidents (Cassidy and Shannon,) or Mr. Manternach.
Also any ideas for the float would be greatly appreciated. We have been discussing ideas, but feel free to suggest something! We're all about creativity!

I believe that is it for now. If you have any questions, again feel free to e-mail us or talk to one of the people mentioned above. Also if you know something is wrong or you want something added on here, don't hesitate to contact us.

A Post

So obviously we haven't been using the blog much... Eh he... partly my fault, partly me not knowing what to do.
I promise you all that things will start going full speed starting January, February. That's how it happened last year, anyway, and we had a whole bunch of fun, so don't worry. It's not like you signed up for art club for nothing!
I'm not completely sure what to blog about... right now I'm blogging because I figured we needed a new post. Also I'm procrastinating. But more the fact is that we needed something else to read.
What do you all suppose I should write about as we wait for things to get going? Ah! I know! The Grand Plan!

So, I guess this could be called an update. I'm going to summarize the idea of our main project (hopefully correctly.)
OUR PROJECT: It is a tiled mural, generally, and it is full of color and individuality. Each artist will be granted their own tile, (made of some wood of sorts) which they can cut up into smaller pieces of tile or share with another person to work that tile as a collaborative tile. The focus and main idea with the art that will be placed on these tiles will be change- how has life/high school/ideas/thinking changed for the particular artist lately? How have they dealt with this change?
The more complex ideas, the more intense changes and pictures will be colored more in neutrals, signifying that the idea itself is more significant than the appearance. The more simple, or less chaotic/complex ideas of change will be colored in more saturated hues and values, bright and blasting.
The simpler and more saturated tiles will be in the middle, right next to each other as if they are puzzle pieces. As you get farther out from the center, though, the tiles will get progressively neutral in color and more complex in thinking. The tiles will start to "float" away from the center, and it will look as if the whole tile mosaic is slowly exploding.

I think that sums it up. What do you guys think? I think it will be cool.

Update

   Hey everyone!
I don't want to leave anyone in the dark about what is happening in the Renegade Art Club, so I'll sum up what is currently going on:
The council had a meeting today, and we talked about what the big project will be in art club this year. All of us had some ideas, and sooner or later we got to the idea of a mural. We are still in the decision and design process, but in the end the whole art club will decide and vote together on what we will actually be doing. The theme, we decided, would be something around high school and the challenges and changes it brings on. We are also thinking of it to be movable or able to be taken apart in cases of renovation.
On another note, we may be holding a fundraiser sometime to get some cash to buy needed art materials for the big project. Keep that in the back of your minds- nothing is happening yet, but just know that there is a possibility of us selling art to fund for our project.
One more thing-  we are half way (?) through the bi-monthly contest time. So, you have one more month to make a nice piece of art that signifies what inspires you. Who knows, maybe you'll get a gift card! I just wanted to remind you all. :)

Next Meeting: Since the council is still deciding on the big project, we figure that the next full art club meeting will be the Wednesday the week after conferences. So a bit ways away.

I think that's it! I hope you all have a wonderful day and a great long weekend!

New Bi-Mo Contest Theme

Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a theme for the Bi-Mo Contest (finally!) You can check the theme by clicking the page "Bi-Monthly Contest." It's on there.
Also, I'm seriously missing eating doughnuts at Saturday workshops, so people, give us some ideas.WE NEED IDEAS. Even if you think your idea may be lame, any idea is better than no idea at all. And no idea is a bad one... well, not really, but you get what I mean. Even if it is just a baby idea, that's alright.

People who want to be part of the "Council"or "League" or whatever you call it-
E-mail, comment, or tell me, Sam, Cassidy, or Mr. Manternach if you want to be part of the Council. I'll be making a list. Just make sure you can make as many meetings as possible, and maybe more. It's not like you'll be a president or anything, so don't worry, you'll just have a larger say in what's going on in art club.

I'd really like to get the Renegade Art Club moving along, so let's start getting ideas!!

Hope you all have a great day, and don't forget to smile! :)

Ideas!

   Hey everyone!
So we've been discussing what our big project should be for this year. Please comment, vote, or suggest ideas on this post, e-mail them, or just tell Mr.Manternach, Cassidy, or Sam.
Here are some ideas proposed so far:
-Poolside Mural
-Downtown Warehouse Mural
-Mosaic
(I don't have the expensive ideas up on here because, well, they are expensive. Not saying they aren't good though.)
Please give us ideas!! :)

Also, we need to have council members sooner or later, so figure out if you can and want to be a council member or not- I believe we will be figuring that out Thursday, or at least signing up for it. Make sure you can come to all the meetings if you want to be a council member!

Have a great day, everybody!

Forms

I forgot to put this in the e-mail, so might as well put it up on here, right?
Remember to turn in your permission slips, and remember you also need $5 along with that. If you have unfortunately lost your permission slip, just go to the page "Handouts from Meetings" and it's right there.

Also, there is a contest I'd like to share with you guys. It's held by celebratingart.com, and all you have to do is make a pretty picture, (or sculpture, even) take a picture of it or scan it, and send it in via the internet. Then you wait a little bit, and then you see if they want to publish your art in their book of art! Here's the link to the website: http://celebratingart.com/index.php. Ask me or comment on here if you have any questions on joining- I've done it two times before, and I'm entering again, so I can help you out, if needed.

I believe that is all- if I think of anything else, I'll just add some more info to the post or something along the lines of that. Have a great day!
